Being a professional photographer doesn't mean owning a $2500 camera (although a run of the mill Best Buy camera won't cut it either). What it does mean is knowing how to use your camera, under pressure, in a fast paced environment, making no mistakes. And the 1st step is knowing what all those funny numbers mean when you look through the viewfinder.

Every culture has it's own flavor of doing things. And each community we work in shows their 'personality' in these events. From continent to continent, and even country to country (sometimes right next door) it never ceases to amaze us at how this one single ceremony can be celebrated in so many colorful and exciting ways. And that's before the couple themselves start refining the details to fit their own personalities! We really do feel lucky to be able to see an engagement or wedding reinvented fresh evertime we work.

We love love love intimate events. There's something about them that let's everyone feel so relaxed, and in such a good mood, that you end up with a photo like this. What the camera didn't capture was there were at 4 other people doing this at the same time, making the room literally resonate with ululations (and yes, that's what it's called). We are super excited for Sarah & Islam and are most definitely looking forward the wedding!

But then again when are babies ever really 'off season'? We especially love doing baby shoots in between all our usual wedding projects. It really puts things in perspective going from one major stage of life to another, sometimes in the same weekend. And there's something super special when during the shoot, the parents forget that you're there, the baby is happy being cradled by both loves at once, and you get the honor of sharing in something so personal then making it into a beautiful photo that will be looked back upon for decades.
